Aditi Jajot

Aditi is a performing artist whose journey began long before she understood what a career in the arts could look like. A dreamer from a young age, she was always drawn to the stage. Although her hometown is Dehradun, she grew up across multiple cities where opportunities for arts education were often limited. It was after moving to Pune that she found herself immersed in a world of artistic possibilities through dance classes, workshops, live performances, dance socials, cyphers and theatre, embracing every opportunity to learn and grow.

Her artistic journey began with Oriental Dance, which opened the door to exploring movement as a language of expression. It led her to discover a range of movement practices and explore underground dance cultures, where she experienced the power of music, improvisation, community and human connection. These experiences shaped her understanding of art not only as performance, but as a way of bringing people together, fostering empathy and creating spaces of belonging.

Over the years, she has performed extensively, finding on stage a place where stories and emotions can be communicated beyond the limitations of words. For Aditi, every new artistic discipline has never felt like a departure from the last, but another way of understanding what it means to be human. She sees movement as one of our most fundamental forms of expression, shaping the way we observe, connect and communicate with one another. She believes art has the ability to challenge perspectives, build communities and reveal parts of ourselves that words often cannot reach.

At Drama School Mumbai, Aditi looks forward to expanding this language of expression through acting and theatre. She hopes to deepen her artistic practice, collaborate with diverse voices, and continue exploring performance as a powerful medium for connection and storytelling. Looking ahead, she dreams of creating original musicals where dancers, actors and musicians come together to tell stories that stay with people long after the curtain falls.

Amit Purohit

Amit discovered theatre in 2014 after watching a performance at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival that changed the way he looked at storytelling. Coming from a non-theatre background, he was deeply moved by the experience and drawn to the power and honesty of live performance. What began as curiosity soon grew into a passion for theatre.

Over the past eleven years, Amit has built his practice through rehearsals, performances and collaborations. Since joining D For Drama Theatre Group in 2018, he has worked with directors such as Abhishek Majumdar, Sandeep Shikhar, Ghanshyam Lalsa and Saurabh Nayyar, each of whom has shaped his understanding of theatre in different ways. He has also worked with Heeba Shah and Hidayat Sami, and since 2024, has been collaborating with Rajat Kapoor. Along the way, he has also taken on the role of Production Head, giving him a broader understanding of the collaborative nature of theatre.

After years of working across different productions and learning through practice, Amit realised there was much more to explore beyond performance alone. He wanted to understand every aspect of theatre-making—from writing, direction and design to devising and the creative process behind building a production. This led him to join Drama School Mumbai, where he hopes to deepen his understanding of playmaking, strengthen his craft as an actor, and grow into a more thoughtful, versatile and well-rounded theatre artist.

Amit believes theatre helps people see the world through different perspectives and builds empathy. He hopes to create honest performances that connect with audiences while continuing to learn, grow and challenge himself as an artist.
