Inlaks Alumni Reunion Delhi

Inlaks alumni from 1979 to 2023 reconnected over the course of a glittering evening in Delhi.

The Inlaks Alumni Reunion held in Delhi last weekend, brought together alumni right from 1979 to 2023. The evening was filled with engaging and animated conversations, with alumni across the years catching up with each other and reminiscing about the times they spent studying together.

Inlaks Trustee Professor Chauhan shared some wonderful memories about how the Foundation began its work in India, and mentioned the current Chair, Azad Shivadasani's role in ensuring that the founder's vision of identifying and encouraging young Indians through their learning journeys continues to be supported unconditionally.

He also spoke about how deeply invested the Shivdasani family remains, in each individual who has been supported even beyond their years of study. He further lauded the contribution of several people who were instrumental to the Foundation's growth in its early years, including the late Ranjit Bhatia, late Count Nicolo and Colin Lucas.

Country Director Priyanka Varma took the alumni through the newly launched, refreshed identity of the Foundation, an exercise led by Inlaks Trustee Theodore Shivdasani,  and shared the range of opportunities that had evolved over the years across academia, research, social engagement, art and culture, and more.

Scholars Arunava Sen (1984), Nivedita Narain (1990)  and Suryanandini Narain (2006) shared snippets of their own journeys, mentioning that the Scholarship went beyond providing monetary support by ensuring the well-being of the individual and building a community of support. There was a wide acknowledgement of the support the Foundation provides for fields traditionally not supported.

Since 1976, over 1300 talented young Indians have received Scholarships, Awards, Fellowships, Art Residencies, Internships and Grants across a wide range of subjects and endeavours, both overseas and in India.

The Foundation hopes to hold more reunions in different Indian cities in the future, as part of its efforts to strengthen the alumni network.
