Inlaks Scholar and author Amitav Ghosh receives prestigious awards

1978 Inlaks Scholar and renowned author Amitav Ghosh was awarded the 2024 Erasmus Prize in Amsterdam for his writings on the planetary crisis and climate change, by H.M. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands where he also met Mr Azad Shivdasani, Chair of the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation.

In May 2023 Amitav Ghosh was awarded the International Award of the Dialoghi di Pistoia Festival in Tuscany

Harper Collins India also published his book ‘Smoke and Ashes: A Writer’s Journey Through Opium’s Hidden Histories.’ He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Lucerne, Switzerland and invited to deliver the Presidential Forum Lecture at the annual conference of the American Geophysical Union, the world’s largest meeting of climate scientists.

Under the Inlaks Scholarship, Ghosh did a DPhil in Anthropology from St. Edmund Hall at Oxford University.
