Inlaks Scholar and author Amitav Ghosh receives prestigious awards

The renowned author was awarded the International Award of the Dialoghi di Pistoia Festival in Tuscany in May 2023, and the Erasmus prize 2024.

1978 Inlaks Scholar and renowned author Amitav Ghosh was awarded the International Award of the Dialoghi di Pistoia Festival in Tuscany in May 2023, and the Erasmus prize 2024 for his writings on the planetary crisis and climate change. HarperCollins India also published his book ‘Smoke and Ashes: A Writer’s Journey Through Opium’s Hidden Histories.’ He was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Lucerne, Switzerland and invited to deliver the Presidential Forum Lecture at the annual conference of the American Geophysical Union, the world’s largest meeting of climate scientists.

Under the Inlaks Scholarship, Ghosh did a DPhil in Anthropology from St. Edmund Hall at Oxford University.
