The Inlaks-Asia Art Archive Art Grant

The Grant encourages artists to propose methods of art-making that incorporate research, collaboration, workshops, and formal experiments to explore the imaginations, architectures, sensoria, and interfaces of the archive.

About the Grant

The applicants are invited to propose projects that engage with any of the following:

  1. Archives pertaining to any field: such as art, music, cinema, theatre, law, science, medicine, etc.

  2. Artists’ personal archives: scrapbooks, letters, diaries, photo albums, etc.

  3. Public libraries, databases and inventories

  4. Anthologies, timelines, maps, and bibliographies

Applications will be assessed based on clarity and rigour.

Proposals that extend ongoing projects are eligible for this Grant.

Grantees will not be expected to submit completed work at the end of the programme.

Duration and Value

  1. The Grant will be awarded for a period of one year.

  2. The Grant offers support up to INR 2,00,000.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant must be an Indian citizen residing in India.

  2. The applicant's date of birth must be between 1st January 1989 and 1st January 1999.

  3. Collectives are eligible to apply provided all members meet the criteria mentioned above

Exclusions

Past Inlaks Grantees (including recipients of other Inlaks Grants, Awards, or Residencies) are not eligible to apply.

About Asia Art Archive in India (AAA-I)

Asia Art Archive is an Independent Registered Public Charitable Trust established in 2013 with the goal of building resources for research on the region’s dynamic contemporary art scene.

It accomplishes this mission by digitising artist and scholarly archives, developing research projects, and organising programmes. AAA-I’s Research Collections can be accessed from its space in New Delhi, which has been open to the public since 2016.
