We provide life-changing opportunities to young Indians of exceptional talent, character, and motivation. By seeking out and nurturing such talent, we aim for each personal achievement to benefit the individual and the wider world.

Since 1976, over 1300 talented young Indians have received, Scholarships, Awards, Fellowships, Art Residencies, Internships, and Grants across a wide range of subjects and endeavours, overseas and in India.

Our alumni reflect the diversity of individuals that we have supported over four decades. Today, many are leaders in their chosen fields.

Dr. Joyeeta Gupta is a 1987 Inlaks Scholar who studied Law at Harvard University. She was recently awarded the Spinoza Prize, the highest award in Dutch academia.

The Inlaks Residency at The Rijksakademie, Netherlands

Allows artists to develop their work over one or two-year periods in Amsterdam.

Deadline: 1st October 2024.

The Inlaks-Max Medical Fellowship

Supports young doctors from tier II or III Indian cities to undergo high-quality clinical training and research in established centres. This addresses the lack of access to such training in small cities.

Deadline: 30th September 2024.

The Inlaks Residency at International Studio and Curatorial Program, New York

Supports a residency at International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in Brooklyn, New York for a curator or an artist from India.

Deadline: 18th October 2024.

Our Story

Indoo Shivdasani

Indoo Shivdasani (1918–1979), a successful entrepreneur, credited his Cambridge education with broadening his commercial and cultural horizons. He had a strong desire to give others a similar opportunity. A firm believer in the importance of overseas higher education for young Indians. He saw this as a way to foster their talent and develop their capacity to contribute to society.
