Since 1976, over 1300 talented young Indians have received, Scholarships, Awards, Fellowships, Art Residencies, Internships, and Grants across a wide range of subjects and endeavours, overseas and in India.

Our alumni reflect the diversity of individuals that we have supported over four decades. Today, many are leaders in their chosen fields.

Dr. Joyeeta Gupta is a 1987 Inlaks Scholar who studied Law at Harvard University. She was recently awarded the Spinoza Prize, the highest award in Dutch academia.

Our Story

Indoo Shivdasani

Indoo Shivdasani (1918–1979), a successful entrepreneur, credited his Cambridge education with broadening his commercial and cultural horizons. He had a strong desire to give others a similar opportunity. A firm believer in the importance of overseas higher education for young Indians. He saw this as a way to foster their talent and develop their capacity to contribute to society.

The Inlaks Theatre Award 2026

Recognises upcoming theatre practitioners to undertake skill enhancement in the field of theatre, by participating in recognised training workshops, residencies etc., under the guidance of a mentor.

Recognises upcoming artists to undertake independent work in India with a stipulation to attend a recognised Art Residency programme for four weeks during the year.

Enables registered PhD students of Indian universities, to undertake short-term visit to the King’s India Institute, King’s College London to collect material, use facilities, and consult experts.
